Police Seek Public's Help in Identifying Home Burglar

Detectives in Newport Beach are asking for the public's help in identifying a burglar who pried open the sliding door of a house, police reported.

Police said the burglar is responsible for a home burglary that took place on Thursday, Oct. 10 at 10:45 a.m. at a home in the 700 block of Malabar. Jennifer Manzella, police spokeswoman, said the burglar removed a screen door from the back of the house and used a screwdriver or some type of tool to pry open a sliding glass door.

Manzella said the suspect did not take anything from the home, and was possibly interrupted when a resident returned home.

Police described the suspect as being White or Hispanic, with a bald/shaved head, dark mustache, standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds.

Anyone with information as to the identity and/or location of the suspect is asked to Detective Chris Kimble at 949-644-3767, or the Police Department’s Hotline at 1-800-550-NBPD. Messages can be left anonymously if so desired.
