Police Push Man Away From Cliff

The man climbed over the safety railing at Inspiration Point and was standing near the cliff's edge above Big Corona Beach in Corona del Mar. He was later transported for medical evaluation, authorities reported.

A man who climbed over the safety railing at Inspiration Point above Big Corona Beach on Thursday was pushed to safety by police, authorities reported.

The incident occurred about 7:47 p.m. at the lookout spot located on Ocean Boulevard, the Orange County Sheriff's Department reported. Responding police officers pushed the man to safety within 20 minutes and brought him back over the railing to the walking path.

According to the sheriff's blotter, the man was believed to be in possession of a handgun and was detained, but he was later released for medical evaluation.
