Police Arrest 4 on St. Patrick's Day

Newport Beach is a hot spot on St. Patrick's Day, but police report the number of arrests were low.

Police in Newport Beach arrested four people on St. Patrick's Day, and saw a relatively quiet night, a police official reported.

On Sunday one person was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, two people were arrested for public intoxication and one person was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, according to Newport Beach police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe.

"The arrest numbers were low, more than likely due to the holiday falling on a Sunday this year," Lowe said.
