Police Issue Beach Safety Tips

Be sure to secure all your valuables while enjoying a day at the beach.

During the summer months, more people head to the beach, creating more opportunities for thieves. In an effort to keep crime to a minimum, the Newport Beach Police Department is reminding residents and visitors to:

  •  Close and lock all doors and windows before leaving home.
  •  Secure all valuables in the car before arriving at the beach.
  •  Close car windows and lock doors.
  •  Never hide a spare key in or around the car.
  •  Never leave car keys, cell phone, or wallet unattended on a towel or in a bag on the beach.

If you are a victim of theft, call the Newport Beach Police Department at 949-644-3717.
