Police arrested a Costa Mesa man for allegedly molesting at least two boys over several years in Newport Beach, a police official reported Saturday.
Forty-eight-year-old Christopher Bryan McKenzie, Sr. of Costa Mesa, was arrested Friday for lewd and lascivious acts with a child. Kathy Lowe, spokeswoman for the Newport Beach Police Department, said over the last week two men came forward and said McKenzie had an inapporpriate sexual relationship with them over a period of many years.
At the times of the alleged molestations the victims were between eight and 16-years-old.
"The molestations occurred at a residence in Newport Beach," Lowe said.
McKenzie works as a pool cleaner servicing locations throughout the Orange County area and is also a volunteer Sunday school teacher at ROCKHARBOR Church in Costa Mesa.
"At this point in the investigation there is no indication that the suspect engaged in an inappropriate sexual relationship was anyone affiliated with ROCKHARBOR Church," Lowe said.
McKenzie was being held without bail at the Orange County Jail. He is scheduled to be arraigned at the Harbor Justice Center early next week.
The Newport Beach Police Department says anyone who may have been a victim of inappropriate contact with McKenzie, or have any information related to the case, should call NBPD Det. Freeman at 949-644-3776, or NBPD Det. Carpentieri at 949-644-3772, or (800) 550-NBPD. Anonymous messages will be accepted.
