David Yoak, 38, was struck by a taxicab on PCH Saturday morning. He died later at Western Medical Center.

A man who died after he was struck by a taxicab in Newport Beach over the weekend was identified Wednesday as 38-year-old David Yoak, according to the Orange County coroner's office.

Yoak, whose city of residence was not determined, was hit while walking on Pacific Coast Highway near Reef Point Saturday at about 7:48 p.m., according to Newport Beach Police Sgt. Todd Hughes.

He was transported to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana where he succumbed to his injuries at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, the coroner's office reported.

No arrests were made following the accident, which is still under investigation, Hughes said.
