Paddle Board Thefts Spike on Balboa Island

Several paddle boards have been stolen over the last two months from the Balboa Island area, Newport Beach police reported.

A total of 11 paddle boards were reported stolen to police, some of which were unsecured, from in and around Balboa Island. Police say whenever possible, paddle boards should be stored and secured in a locked garage. 

Dates & Location

  • Nov. 7, 1800 block of Bayside Dr., stolen from an unlocked storage bin
  • Nov. 15, 1000 N. Bay Front, board was unsecured and stolen from a dock
  • Nov. 16, 300 B. Bay Front, board was unsecured and stolen from a dock
  • Nov. 19, 200 Grand Canal, board was unsecured and stolen from a dock
  • Nov. 21, 1200 S. Bay Front, two paddle boards were stolen from a locked dock
  • Dec. 1, 300 Grand Canal, a lock was cut from a secured board located at a dock
  • Dec. 6, 1300 E. Balboa Blvd., two unsecured paddle boards were stolen from a backyard 
  • Dec. 8, 700 W. Bay Ave., board was unsecured
  • Dec. 9, 100 Bayside Dr., board was stolen when its lock was cut
