No Arrests at Newport DUI Checkpoint

But Newport Beach police issued 12 citations to motorists.

No arrests were made at a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint set up in Newport Beach Friday night and Saturday morning, a police official reported Monday.

Police said 1,513 cars passed through the checkpoint at Newport Boulevard and Finley Avenue. No arrests were made for drunk driving, but 12 citations were handed out for various violations and 21 drivers were screened, according to Newport Beach police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe.
