No Arrests at Newport DUI Checkpoint

But Newport Beach police issued seven citations to motorists.

No arrests were made at a DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint set up in Newport Beach Thursday night and Friday morning, a police official reported today.

Police say 335 cars passed through the checkpoint at Dover Drive and 16th Street. No arrests were made for drunk driving, but seven citations were handed out for various violations, according to Newport Beach police Lt. Jon Lewis.

No other information was released.
