News Brief: Police Receive Funds to Crack Down on Real Estate Fraud

The Newport Beach Police Department has been awarded $75,000 by the Orange County Real Estate Fraud Prosecution Trust Fund.

The Newport Beach Police Department has received funding to place more emphasis on real estate fraud, a police official announced today.

The Newport Beach City Council approved the acceptance of the $75,000 awarded to the Police Department on Tuesday. The fund was given to the department by the Orange County Real Estate Fraud Prosecution Trust Fund, which is managed by the Orange County district attorney's office.

Kathy Lowe, the department's crime prevention specialist, says the Real Estate Fraud Prosecution Trust Fund requires the funds to be used to partially fund the salary and benefits of an investigator for real estate fraud cases in the city.
