News Brief: Cancer Fundraiser Tonight at Ruby's Diner

The Newport Beach Police Department's Fight Cancer with the Cops program joins with Ruby's Diner.

The day is half over, and it's time to think about dinner. If you're interested in eating a nice meal and helping a great cause, stop by Ruby's Diner in Corona del Mar.

The Fight Cancer with the Cops event will be held tonight, from 5 to 9 p.m., at Ruby's Diner on East Coast Highway. Customers will be served by Newport Beach Police Officers and Newport Beach Explorers, also known as the 911 Blue Crew. In return, Ruby’s Diner will donate 20 percent of the night’s proceeds to the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life campaign.

"The 911 Blue Crew is hoping to raise a total of $5,000 to donate to the American Cancer Society," said Sgt. Steve Burdette, of the Newport Beach Police Department.
