Woman Comes Face to Face With Burglar

A man forces his way into a home on Inlet Isle Drive, but flees when he is confronted by the resident.

A man forced his way into a home in Newport Beach last week, but was scared off when he came face to face with the resident, police reported.

The incident happened Thursday at 2:50 p.m. at a home in the 3700 block of Inlet Isle Drive. The woman told police she heard someone knock on her front door three times, and as she walked toward the door she heard a loud noise. Police say the man broke part of a louvered bedroom window to force his way inside the Inlet Isle home. When he saw the woman in the bedroom, she yelled at him to get out of her house and he ran out the window, down the street and fled in a car.

The man was described as about 35-years-old, standing 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighing about 200 pounds with hazel eyes. He was wearing black pants, a black long-sleeved shirt and a black baseball hat, police reported.
