Newport Man Sentenced for Prostitution

Jon Michael Hill, 59, was arrested in June after a sheriff's deputy saw him pick up a woman and take her to an Anaheim motel.

A Newport Beach man was sentenced Thursday for picking up a woman in Anaheim with the intent of paying her to have sex with him at a motel, the Orange County district attorney's office reported.

Jon Michael Hill, 59, pleaded guilty to one misdemeanor count of agreeing to engage in prostitution and was sentenced to three years of informal probation and 45 days in jail, according to the D.A.'s office. Hill is also required to submit DNA, get tested for AIDS and attend AIDS education classes.

Prosecutors said on the afternoon of June 4, an Orange County Sheriff's deputy saw Hill circling around Beach Boulevard and Rome Avenue in Anaheim, an known area for prostitution.

The deputy saw Hill pull over and talk to a woman, then drove away and pulled into a parking lot where he started talking to another woman. According to the D.A.'s office, Hill drove the woman to an Anaheim motel where he planned to pay her for sex.

Hill was arrested by the deputy at the motel.
