Suspects Break Into Unlocked Newport Homes

In one case a home on Morning Star Lane, which was under construction, was burglarized by two suspects.

Two homes, one that was under construction and unlocked, were recently burglarized in Newport Beach, police reported.

On Tuesday, Aug. 6 between 11:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m., a home in the 2000 block of Santiago Drive was burglarized. According to police, a suspect broke into the home through "unknown means" and stole money, a bag and clothes from some suitcases that were inside the house.

Police said on Tuesday, July 30 between 3 and 4 a.m. a man and woman broke into a house under construction in the 300 block of Morning Star Lane. According to police, the suspects went into the yard through an unlocked side gate. The suspect went into the home through an unlocked front door and stole a microwave.

The male suspect was in his mid 20s, and was wearing a plaid shirt and dark pants. The woman was about 20, had shoulder length hair in a ponytail and was wearing a tank top and pants, police reported.

The pair fled in a white Chevy Silverado truck with a discolored driver side rear quarter panel.
