Two Los Angeles residents were arrested on suspicion of belonging to a burglary ring that targeted medical conferences at high-end hotels, mainly in Orange County, the Newport Beach Police Department announced Wednesday.
Eddwin Ricardo Bejaranobarrios, 26, and Mayra Alejandra Gutierrez-Leon, 27, were taken into custody on Tuesday, suspected on stealing electronic devices, including iPhones, iPads and laptop computers, said Jennifer Manzella of the Newport Beach Police Department.
Bejarnobarrios and Gutierrez-Leon have been linked to at least 11 thefts — two each in Newport Beach, Anaheim, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach and Los Angeles and one in an area patrolled by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
The loss in the two Newport Beach cases was estimated at $23,120.
Anyone with additional information on the thefts was asked to call Newport Beach police Detective Christopher Kimble at (949) 644-3767.
