Newport Man Arrested for 20 Tire Slashings

Police say Brandon Evan Bhaskar went on a vehicle vandalism spree in October and November.

A man was arrested today at his home in Newport Beach in connection with 20 vehicle vandalisms on the Balboa Peninsula, a police official said today.

According to police, Brandon Evan Bhaskar, 30, is suspected of vandalizing three vehicles in the early morning hours of Oct. 28 in the area of 44th Street and Seashore Drive, and 17 vehicles on Nov. 29 in the area of Lake and 33rd streets. Police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe, said in all of the incidents a sharp object was used to .

"Detectives investigating these crimes developed information which led them to identify Bhaskar as the suspect," Lowe said in a released statement. "A knife believed to have been used in the commission of these crimes was located at Bhaskar’s residence."
