Ceremony Honors Newport Beach Fire Department Promotions

Family members, friends and colleagues celebrate department promotions.

Three members of the Newport Beach Fire Department were the center of attention today at a badge pinning ceremony held to celebrate their promotions.

Charlie Dall, who was hired by the department when he was 15, was promoted from fire engineer to fire captain. Brent Jacobsen, a department veteran since 1982, was promoted from lifeguard captain to lifeguard battalion chief and Rob Williams, who joined the department in 1985, from lifeguard battalion chief to assistant chief-lifeguard operations.

"These men are to be commended on enduring all of the hurdles it takes to achieve these ranks," said Jennifer Schulz, department spokeswoman.
