Scott Poster Sworn in as Fire Chief

Poster comes to Newport Beach with over 30 years of experience in fire service.

Scott Poster was officially sworn in today as Newport Beach's new fire chief.

The ceremony was held in Council Chambers at Newport Beach City Hall. Several people attended the event including Poster's family, council members, fire department officials and residents.

Poster, of Aliso Viejo, is a 30-year fire service veteran. He joined LA County Fire in 1983 as a firefighter and was steadily promoted through the ranks in several departments including fire and lifeguard operations, fire prevention and administration. In addition, Poster served the region on command teams from the Shuttle Columbia Disaster and Hurricane Katrina.

"I look forward to collaborating with staff to optimize the organization and redefine service excellence to the visitors and residents in the City," Poster said.

Poster is a state-certified fire officer, a fire instructor and holds numerous state and federal qualifications in incident command. His starting salary is $204,984.
