Two drivers, one a suspect, were hospitalized in critical condition today after a collision at the end of a police pursuit, authorities said.

The female victim was behind the wheel of a Prius at a four-way stop when her vehicle was rear-ended at the intersection of Dover Drive and Mariners Drive around 10:30 p.m. Thursday by a speeding Mercedes Benz driven by 43-year-old Benjamin Scanlan, said Newport Beach police Sgt. Corey Wolik.

Wolik added that Scanlan has been booked on suspicion of felony DUI. What sparked the chase wasn't immediately revealed.
