A motorcyclist was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries today after a collision on Pacific Coast Highway in Newport Beach.

Newport Beach police Sgt. Ryan Peters said the motorcyclist, a man in his early 20s, struck a sedan at the intersection of PCH and Newport Center Drive around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Peters said westbound lanes of the highway were closed for about 90 minutes after the collision.

It's time for the state to discontinue the legality of motorcycles driving between lanes. There are too many young, irresponsible riders flying in between cars on all roads. There is no reason at all for this type of behavior.
