Man Sits on 405 Freeway, Causing Rush Hour Closure

The CHP shuts down two lanes at Harbor Boulevard because a man was wandering the highway and eventually plopped down.

The California Highway Patrol closed two southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway at Harbor Boulevard in Costa Mesa during the Tuesday afternoon rush hour after a man walked onto the highway.

The Costa Mesa Fire Department and the CHP both got calls about a man wandering on the freeway just after 4:10 p.m., a fire department dispatcher said.

About 5 p.m., the unidentified man sat down on the freeway, but by 5:30 p.m., authorities were able to get him off the road and reopen the two right lanes, a CHP dispatcher said.
