Driver Hurt After Crashing Into Tree

Police say the man's car hit the center median on northbound Jamboree Road then ran into a tree. The unidentified man was transported to a hospital with multiple injuries.

A man was seriously injured today when his car hit a center median and crashed into a tree in Newport Beach, police reported.

The single-vehicle crash happened about 10:55 a.m. on Jamboree Road, south of Bison Avenue, according to Sgt. Joseph Cartwright of the Newport Beach Police Department. 

The male driver was transported to Mission Hospital with multiple unknown injuries, he said.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. 

A Sigalert was issued in connection with the crash.
