Man Gets 13 Years for 200 Pounds of Cocaine

A Canadian man has pleaded guilty to having about 200 pounds of cocaine and was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Jean Francois Gosselin, 35, was arrested about a year ago in Newport Beach, where he was staying in a mobile home.

He pleaded guilty Friday to possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, with a sentencing enhancement allegation that it was more than 10 kilograms, or 22 pounds, according to court records.

"He's a good guy," defense attorney Mike McDonnell said. "He did a bad thing and now he's going to pay the price for it.'' Gosselin has no prior criminal record, McDonnell said.

"He's a nice family guy who never should have been here."
