Man Allegedly Assaulted After Suspect Kicks Car

Two men got into a confrontation early Wednesday in Newport Beach after one man's car was kicked, police reported.

Police responded to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon at about 12:15 a.m. in the area of 57th and Seashore. Jennifer Manzella, police spokeswoman, said a resident told responding officers a suspect kicked in the door of his parked car.

"The victim exited the vehicle to confront the suspect, and the suspect then hit him over the head with an unknown object before fleeing the scene," Manzella said.
