Update: Irvine Man Arrested After Short Car Chase

Police said the man crashed his car about 1:28 a.m. Monday on the San Joaquin Hills (73) Transportation Corridor at Jamboree Road in Newport Beach.

An Irvine man wanted in connection with vehicle code violations led Newport Beach police on a brief chase early Monday morning and crashed his car on the San Joaquin Hills (73) Transportation Corridor after police broke off the pursuit, police said.

Joshua Patrick Astemborski, 26, was booked on suspicion of evading a police officer after he led police on a three minute pursuit, according to Kathy Lowe, spokeswoman for the Newport Beach Police Department.

The crash occurred at 1:28 a.m. on the San Joaquin Hills Transportation Corridor at Jamboree Road, police reported.

Astemborski was taken to Western Medical Center with unknown injuries, Lowe said.
