Home Under Construction Catches Fire on Linda Isle Drive

preliminary findings suggests that the fire was accidental.

A second-alarm fire in Newport Beach today severely damaged the top floor of a two-story home that was empty and under construction.

Firefighters dispatched at 8:02 a.m. to the residence in the 100 block of Linda Isle Drive had the two-alarm blaze under control within 25 minutes, said Newport Beach Public Information Officer Jennifer Manzella.

The structure also sustained water and smoke damage to the ground floor, Manzella said.

"The cause of the fire is under investigation," she said. "But preliminary findings suggests that it was accidental."
