Golf Tourney Starts; Lifeguards Wanted; Cooler Temperatures

A handful of things happening in and around Newport Beach.

  1. Prospective seasonal lifeguards have until Wednesday to turn in their applications for tryouts on Sunday. Applicants, who must be 16 years old as of April 1, will compete in both a 1000 meter swim and 1000 meter run-swim-run. Top finishers will participate in an oral interview and selected candidates will be invited into the earn entry into a 100-hour training course that covers essential lifeguard skills. Pay for seasonal lifeguards starts at $16.76 per hour. More information here.
  2. The Toshiba Classic is at the Newport Beach Country Club all week. Things kick off this morning with the Monday Pro-Am. More information here.
  3. Today will be partly cloudy with temperatures expected to be in the low 60s, according to the National Weather Service.
