Thanksgiving Fire Toasts Newport Home

Firefighters douse Bridgeport Road blaze within five minutes, but it causes $10,000 in damage.

Fire broke out at a Newport Coast house on Thanksgiving, but firefighters contained it quickly, an official said Friday.

The blaze was reported about 11:46 p.m Thursday at a home on Bridgeport Road, according to Jennifer Schulz of the Newport Beach Fire Department.

"The fire was controlled within five minutes," Schulz said. "One person was transported after this incident, but not as a result of the fire."

Damage to the house was estimated at $10,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
