Firefighters Douse Banning Ranch Fire

The fire caused about $5,000 in damage to an outbuilding. No injuries were reported.

A fire scorched a storage building at the Banning Ranch oil field late Wednesday, but no injuries were reported, a fire official reported.

Firefighters from Newport Beach, Costa Mesa and Huntington Beach responded to a call at about 8:17 p.m. off Coast Highway and Prospect, but the fire was actually found by firefighters to be off 17th Street and Monrovia Avenue, according to Jennifer Schulz, of the Newport Beach Fire Department.

"It was in an outbuilding and was extinguished by the firefighters," Schulz said. "The building suffered approximately $5,000 damage."
