Firefighters Conduct Routine Checks in CDM

Newport Beach firefighters visit a group of businesses Thursday to perform fire-safety inspections.

Firefighters stopped by businesses in Corona del Mar on Thursday to ensure that the establishments are safe and up to par on fire regulations.

The fire safety inspections took place about 9 a.m. at about 10 businesses along East Coast Highway, including Baja Fresh, said Jennifer Schulz, spokeswoman for the Newport Beach Fire Department.

The routine inspections are part of the department's fire prevention division, which was created to keep the community safe from fire-related incidents and environmental hazards through education and safety checks.
