Electronics and Meds Swiped from Newport Cars

Cars parked on Orange Street and West Coast Highway were recently targeted by thieves. Police urge residents to lock car doors at all times.

Unlocked cars were recently broken into in Newport Beach, police reported.

  • On Friday, Nov. 9 a car parked in the 200 block of Orange Street was targeted, but there were no signs of forced entry. Police say a Hugo Boss bag containing an HP laptop, Oakley sunglasses and medication were stolen.
  • Police say on Saturday, Nov. 3 an unlocked car parked in the 6100 block of West Coast Highway had items stolen from it. According to police, a backpack containing a Louis Vuitton wallet, Panasonic digital camera, gold necklace and G-Shock watch were taken from the car.

Vehicle Safety Tips:

  • Take valuables out: Remove all valuable from plain sight or hide them before arriving at your destination.
  • Lock your vehicle: Verify your vehicle is securely locked before leaving the area.
  • Close your windows: An open window or sunroof allows for quick entry into your vehicle by a thief – Always check that they are completely shut before leaving your vehicle.
