Update: Elderly Corona del Mar Man Killed by Porsche

Ghorbanali Norouzian was struck by a Porsche Carrera Tuesday night on San Joaquin Hills Road between MacArthur Boulevard and San Miguel Drive.

An elderly man was struck by a Porsche Carrera while walking outside of a crosswalk in Newport Beach, and died at a hospital, a police official reported today.

At 7:40 p.m. Tuesday Ghorbanali Norouzian, 71, of Corona del Mar and another pedestrian were walking across the eastbound lanes on San Joaquin Hills Road, between MacArthur Boulevard and San Miguel Drive outside of the crosswalk, when Norouzian was struck by a 2005 black Porsche Carrera, authorities reported.

Norouzian was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he was pronounced dead at 8:31 p.m., according to the Orange County coroner's office. Newport Beach police spokeswoman Kathy Lowe said the second pedestrian was uninjured.

The 58-year-old male driver from Newport Beach stopped after hitting Norouzian, and was neither arrested nor cited, Newport Beach police reported.

Lowe says the investigation is continuing.
