An early morning robbery in Newport Beach led to a police chase that ended in Fullerton with two people arrested and one suspect at large, a police spokesman said.

About 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a call about a possible fight at 30th Street and West Balboa Boulevard, Sgt. Steve Burdette said. When they arrived, officers found a man who said he had been assaulted and robbed, Burdette said.

The man told officers that his wallet and cash had been stolen, Burdette said. Witnesses told officers the suspects were in a dark colored sedan.

Police spotted a car matching the description heading northbound on Newport Boulevard, he said. Police pursued the car, which got onto the northbound 55 to the 5 and onto the 91. The CHP took up the chase on the freeway, Burdette said. The suspect's car exited the freeway in Fullerton and ended up in the 2300 block of Iris Court, he said.
