Driver in Fatal Crash Has Multiple Traffic Citations

Danae Miller was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter under the influence in the crash that killed Amine Britel.

The 22-year-old Newport Coast woman police say was driving drunk Monday night when she hit and killed a cyclist has received at least 11 traffic citations since 2005, Orange County court records show.

According to court records, Miller has received several traffic citations over the past five years, including driving at unsafe speeds, driving while using a phone and driving against traffic on a one-way street.

Britel, 41, was riding a bicycle near San Joaquin Hills Road and Spy Glass Hill Road about 6 p.m. Monday when he was struck by a Volkswagen Jetta driven by Miller, police said.

Britel died at the scene, police said. Miller has since been released on bail, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
