Driver in Fatal Crash Has Multiple Traffic Citations

Danae Miller was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter under the influence in the crash that killed Amine Britel.

The 22-year-old Newport Coast woman police say was driving drunk Monday night when she hit and killed a cyclist has received at least 11 traffic citations since 2005, Orange County court records show.

Danae Miller was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter under the influence in the crash that killed Amine Britel.

According to court records, Miller has received several traffic citations over the past five years, including driving at unsafe speeds, driving while using a phone and driving against traffic on a one-way street.

Britel, 41, was riding a bicycle near San Joaquin Hills Road and Spy Glass Hill Road about 6 p.m. Monday when he was struck by a Volkswagen Jetta driven by Miller, police said.

Britel died at the scene, police said. Miller has since been released on bail, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Department.

The investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information to call Investigator Todd Bush at 949-644-3746.

Shame on the court system that has allowed this cold blooded murder Danae Miller to be free out on bail back home in Newport Coast. She needs to stay behind bars for life. People like Miss Miller need to pay the price when they take an innocent human life.

It is so sad. I recognized her picture but could not place it until they mentioned Zinc Cafe. Drinking at work in today's environment? Add Zinc Cafe as a potential accomplice in this terrible tragedy that was so unnecessary. BTW - The ghost bike memorial is a nice place to visit and pay your respects.
