Driver Arrested on Suspicion of DUI After Crashing into Newport Home

Michael Joseph Anderson, of Westminster, was arrested Sunday night after he crashed into a home on Cliff Drive in Newport Beach.

A man from Westminster was arrested Sunday on suspicion of driving under the influence after he crashed into a Newport Beach home, police reported.

At about 8:50 p.m., Michael Joseph Anderson, 38, was driving and collided with a home in the 2200 block of Cliff Drive, according to Kathy Lowe, spokeswoman for the Newport Beach Police Department.

Lowe says the preliminary investigation shows Anderson was driving south on Irvine Ave and drove through the T- intersection at Cliff Drive and Irvine Avenue into the home located on Cliff Drive.

Anderson was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana with unknown injuries, Lowe said.
