Do You Recognize This Huntington Beach Rioter?

A Fullerton firefighter is among those arrested following the Huntington Beach Riot Sunday, but police are asking for help finding a man captured on camera crashing a stop sign through a bike shop window.

A 19-year-old man was charged today in connection with a riot following the U.S. Open of Surfing in Huntington Beach, while police asked for the public's help in identifying another suspect who used a city stop sign to break the window of a bike store during the disturbance.

City Council members, meanwhile, were holding a town hall meeting tonight to hear from the public about Sunday's disturbance. And it came to light that one of the men arrested in connection with Sunday's violence is a Fullerton firefighter.

Michael John Lytle, 30, of Anaheim, who was booked on suspicion of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, has been placed on paid administrative leave from his job as a Fullerton firefighter, according to Gretchen Beatty, director of human resources for the city.

Lytle joined the city's fire department Feb. 11, 2008, Beatty said. Lytle was off-duty at the time of the rioting.

Chase Scott Christman of Simi Valley pleaded not guilty today to felony vandalism and misdemeanor counts of inciting a riot and refusal to disperse. He was due to return to court Aug. 7 for a pretrial hearing.

Christman could face up to three years in prison if convicted at trial.

As the investigation into the riot continued, Huntington Beach police released a photo of a man who used a stop sign to break the window of the Easyrider Bike Shop, 328 Main St.

Various social media sites wrongly identified Illario Niko Johnson, 18, of West Covina, as the suspect in the photo, but investigators have cleared him of being the person with the stop sign, Huntington Beach police Lt. Mitch O'Brien said. But Johnson is still suspected of taking part in the disturbance, O'Brien said.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the photo was asked to call (714) 375- 5066 or email investigators at hbpdfiles@gmail.com.

City leaders on Monday pledged to review what happened so they can prevent a replay of this weekend's disturbance. Mayor Connie Boardman said a task force of residents, business leaders and council members will be assembled in the next two weeks.

Other suspects arrested so far in the rioting include:

-- Andres Gomez, 24, of Huntington Beach, who was booked on suspicion of refusing to disperse and resisting arrest;

-- Michael Anthony Avila, 28, of Santa Ana, who was booked on suspicion of resisting or delaying a police officer;

-- Joseph Monterrosa, 28, of Ontario, who was booked on suspicion of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest;

-- Adam A. Cecot, 18, of Irvine, who was booked on suspicion of refusing to disperse and unlawful assembly; and

-- Kyle Roger Crott, 18, of Riverside, who was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer and resisting arrest.
