D.A. Looking for More Victims of Alleged Insurance Scheme

Newport Beach radiologist Sim Carlisle Hoffman faces nearly 900 counts of insurance fraud.

The Orange County district attorney's office is looking for more victims of an alleged $17 million workers' compensation overbilling scheme that authorities say was masterminded by a radiologist from Newport Beach.

Investigator Dina Mauger can be reached at 714-648-3667 by people who believe they are victims of the scheme, according to a release from the D.A.'s office.

A grand jury indictment against Sim Carlisle Hoffman, 59, of Newport Beach, another doctor, an administrator and a bill collector was unsealed June 13. They are charged with overbilling for unnecessary or never-performed procedures at Hoffman's Advanced Professional Imaging and Better Sleeping Medical Center in Buena Park.
