Cyclist Struck, Killed by Suspected Drunken Driver

The accident happened about 6 p.m. on Monday.

A man riding a bike Monday night in Newport Beach was struck and killed by a car being driven by a suspected drunken motorist, police said.

Danae Miller, 22, was driving a Volkswagen Jetta around 6 p.m. near San Joaquin Hills Road and Spy Glass Hill Road when she hit the bicyclist, said Lt. Rob Morton.

The bicyclist died at the scene, Morton said.

Miller, who lives in Newport Coast, was arrested on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter under the influence.
