Laguna Beach police are hoping the public can help track down the suspect.

Laguna Beach police said today they need the public's help in tracking down a hit-and-run driver who left a pedestrian clinging to life.

Laguna Beach police were called at 3:18 a.m. Monday to the vicinity of 2222 Laguna Canyon Road by a motorist who found the victim in the street, Laguna Beach police Capt. Jason Kravetz said.

Shahram Mokrami-Tehrani, 51, of Corona Del Mar was walking east on the shoulder of the road when he was struck by a dark, two-door sedan, which was also eastbound, Kravetz said. The car has silver or light-colored rims and possible front-end damage, he said.
