Cop Calls: Car Burglaries in Newport Beach

In one case, a burglar smashed the window of a car on Alicante and stole a tote bag, notebook and binder. The property was later found at Alta Vista Park.

Several cars were burglarized last week in Newport Beach, police reported.

The thefts occurred between Monday, Aug. 27 and Tuesday, Aug. 28. Police say before you walk away from your car, take valuables out or hide them from plain sight. Remembers car doors should be locked at all times, as well as windows and sunroofs.

• A burglar targeted a car in the 900 block of Bellis Street. Police say there were no signs of forced entry into the car. The victim reported an iPhone, wallet and money missing.

• A car in the 500 block of Cancha was burglarized by an uknown suspect. There were no signs of forced entry, but the victims reported golf clubs in a red Benington golf bag stolen.

• A burglar smashed the window of a car parked in the 1200 block of Alicante. According to police, a tote bag, notebook, and binder were stolen but later found at Alta Vista Park.

• An locked car parked in the 3000 block of Carob Street was targeted by a thief. A wallet, briefcase, laptop and sunglasses were stolen, but a neighbor later found the wallet in a parking lot within The Bluffs.
