Cop Calls: Burglar Enters Home Through Unlocked Sliding Door

Police remind residents to be vigilant and lock all doors and windows.

A burglar stole a purse from a Newport Beach home recently after sneaking in through an unlocked sliding glass door, police reported.

The burglary took place on Friday, July 20 between 4 and 4:30 p.m., when an unknown suspect entered a home in the 400 block of Vista Roma. Police say the burglar entered the home through an unlocked sliding glass, screen door, while the victim was outside cleaning her car.

According to police, the victim's sliding glass door opens up to a community greenbelt and pool.

The victim reported her purse was stolen.

If you arrive home and notice something out of place that leads you to suspect a burglary, police recommend going to a safe location and calling 911.
