CERT Volunteers Honored

The Newport Beach Fire Department honored volunteers and staff for their commitment to its Community Emergency Response Team.

The Newport Beach Fire Department honored members of the Community Emergency Response Team at an awards ceremony this weekend.

Members of the team are trained in community emergency preparedness and are all certified disaster service workers ready to respond when the need arises in Newport Beach.

  • Newport Beach Fire Department CERT Volunteer of the Year - Jan Burns
  • Kevin Pryor Memorial CERT Instructor of the Year - Paramedics Bryan Carter and Chris Fanti
  • Newport Beach Fire Department CERT Neighborhood of the Year - Lido Isle Home Owner's Association, led by Gail Reisman
  • Newport Beach Fire Department Spirit of CERT Award - Marilyn Broughton and Evalie DuMars

The CERT Team recently received national recognition from the Federal Emergency Management Agency and won its Individual and Community Preparedness Award for Outstanding CERT Program Initiatives and an Honorable Mention for Volunteer Integration.
