Car Crosses Median, Collides With Six Others in CDM

One person was injured in the accident that happened about 5:30 p.m. Monday on East Coast Highway when a car crossed the center divider.

A car traveling down East Coast Highway yesterday crossed the center divider, hit six other cars and left a woman injured, police said today.

The crash was reported at about 5:30 p.m. on East Coast Highway near Morning Canyon Road in Corona del Mar when the driver of a Honda Civic crossed over the median, according to Kathy Lowe, police spokeswoman.

"From the initial investigation it appears that a vehicle that was travelling westbound on East Coast Highway crossed the center divider and struck several vehicles that were travelling eastbound on East Coast Highway," Lowe said.

The cause of the accident was under investigation today and no arrests were made. The female driver of the Honda Civic was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries.

East Coast Highway was closed down for approximately two hours for the investigation and clean up of the roadway, Lowe said.
