Two cars were involved in the car accident. Officials say one car veered off the road and into the bedroom of an empty single-story home.

A traffic accident in Corona del Mar today caused an elderly woman to crash her Mercedes into a vacant home, but no one was injured, a police official reported.

Police received a call about 10:30 a.m. regarding an injury traffic collision at a home in the 700 block of Iris Avenue, said Kathy Lowe, spokeswoman for the Newport Beach Police Department.

"The initial investigation indicates that a traffic collision occurred in the intersection of Fourth and Iris which involved a white Honda Element and a Mercedes," Lowe said. "The driver of the Mercedes then drove off the roadway and down a slight embankment, colliding with the home at 700 Iris."
