Thieves Target Unlocked Newport Cars

Police say cars parked on Larkspur, White Water and Skysail drives were recently broken into.

Several cars, many of which were unlocked, were recently burglarized in Newport Beach, police reported.

The incidents took place between Tuesday, Sept. 18 and Friday, Sept. 21. Police say before you walk away from your car, take valuables out or hide them from plain sight. Remembers car doors should be locked at all times, as well as windows and sunroofs.

• A vehicle parked in the 500 block of Larkspur Avenue had a radar detector stolen from it.

• Luggage, jewelry and clothing was taken from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 700 block of Larkspur Avenue.

• An unlocked vehicle parked in White Water Drive was targeted by thiefs, but nothing was stolen.

• An unlocked vehicle parked on Skysail Drive was broken into and a wallet was stolen.
