Two Garage Burglaries Reported in Newport Beach

Several items were stolen from unlocked garages on Redlands Drive and La Linda Court in Newport Beach.

Several unlocked garages were broken into recently in Newport Beach, police reported.

The garage burglaries occurred between Thursday, April 25 and Wednesday, May 1 between 7 and 9 a.m.

• An unknown suspect entered an unlocked garage in the 2300 block of Redlands Drive through a side pedestrian door. According to police, the suspect stole two pairs of sunglasses from an unlocked car that was parked inside the garage.

• Police said an unknown suspect entered an unlocked garage in the 2200 block of La Linda Court through a side pedestrian door. The suspect stole money, credit cards, an ID and a Wilson tennis bag with rackets.

• An unknown suspect also stole items from an unlocked car parked in the 2200 block of La Linda Court. Police said the victim reported a black duffle bag, two pairs of ice skates, blades, socks, knee pads and a jump rope missing from the car.

- All exterior doors should be equipped with a deadbolt lock, which should always be used have a security strike plate, attached with a minimum of two, three inch screws.
