Burglar Breaks into Newport Home as Residents Sleep

The home burglary took place in the 1600 block of Highland Drive in Newport Beach. The burglar went into the home through an unlocked door, police said.

A burglar entered a Newport Beach home last week and stole a laptop while the residents were asleep, a police official reported.

The home burglary took place on Sunday, between 3:30 and 5:30 a.m. at a home in the 1600 block of Highland Drive. According to Andi Querry, Newport Beach police crime prevention specialist, the burglar entered the home through an unlocked door and stole an iMac laptop from a desk in the master bedroom.

The residents were asleep during the burglary, Querry said.

A home nearby in the 2200 block of Santiago was burglarized sometime between Thursday, April 25 at 7 a.m. and Wednesday, May 1 at 9 a.m. According to police, a suspect entered the home through an unlocked window and stole two laptops, an iPod and credit card copies.
