Firefighters today extinguished a stubborn blaze that damaged a building housing a Johnny Rockets restaurant and an arcade at Knott's Berry Farm, authorities said.

The fire broke out between the first and second floors of the building at the amusement park in the 8000 block of Beach Boulevard around 2:20 a.m., said Orange County Fire Authority Captain Steve Concialdi. The flames were extinguished in about an hour, he said. No one was hurt.

The fire, according to the preliminary investigation, "probably" was sparked by a worker using a welding torch, Concialdi said.

Concialdi said the 50 firefighters sent to the scene by the fire authority and Anaheim Fire Department had to access the fire scene through the ceiling of the ground floor.

The two-alarm fire, which broke out when the park was closed, did not spread to other structures, Concialdi said. Damage was estimated at $20,000 to the building and $150,000 to the contents, Concialdi said.
