Bicyclist Injured in Light Pole Crash

The bicyclist suffered unknown injuries in the crash on East Coast Highway.

A bicyclist was injured last week after colliding with a street light pole, police reported.

The crash took place on Thursday about 2:45 p.m. at Jasmine Avenue and East Coast Highway. Kathy Lowe, spokeswoman for the Newport Beach Police Department, says a car was going east on East Coast Highway and started to make a left hand turn onto Jasmine Avenue when the driver saw the bicyclist going west on East Coast Highway.

"The bicyclist, in an attempt to avoid the stopped vehicle, collided with a street light located on the northwest curb line," Lowe explained. "No contact was made between the vehicle and bicyclist."
