Update: Bicyclist Dies from Injuries Suffered in Minivan Crash

Debra H. Deem, 58, is critically injured while riding her bike on East Coast Highway and Newport Coast Drive.

A woman from Laguna Beach, who was critically injured Tuesday afternoon when a minivan struck her bike, died today, officials reported.

Debra H. Deem, 58, was hit by a white minivan about 4:30 p.m. while riding her bike along East Coast Highway and Newport Coast Drive, Newport Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said.

Deem was taken to Mission Hospital in critical condition on Tuesday, and was pronounced dead

Manzella said Deem was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

No other information was immediately available.
